What’s been happening:

I have been associate executive director of the Permanente Medical Group, Northern California Region, and physician-in-chief of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, San Jose, California. I am board certified in internal medicine, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a former clinical faculty member in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Stanford University. I recently received a master of liberal arts degree with an emphasis in French literature from Stanford. I have been a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Technology Evaluation Center sponsored by the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association in Chicago, and a senior clinical consultant to Computer Sciences Corporation. In 2008 two of my books were published, including Doctor Tales and The Hundred-Year Diet. In June 2009, one of my short stories, called "The Hero," will be published in Stanford University's prestigious literary journal, Tangents. Currently I'm working on a novel. My wife Sue and I swim regularly with Pacific Masters. We have four children and nine grandchildren all living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
